1. What is the most important issue in Council District 36 you would address if elected?

Restoring the economic vitality of the 36th Council District is of the utmost importance. We need development that is tailored to our community which will promote sustained economic growth. We must provide for and encourage business and development that addresses the local demands for employment, shopping, business and medical services.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

The plan for the 36th District must include affordable and quality middle income housing; recreation activities; childcare and community partnerships to support our local schools. Each element contributes to the overall quality of life and provides for a vibrant and diverse community.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am a life long resident of Bedford Stuyvesant and the owner of the small business Common Grounds A Neighborhood Coffee House. As a former law student of President Obama, I was inspired by his message of hope and service. I believe I have a duty to serve my community. I have served our community for six years as a member of the community board; provided free legal services to small businesses and a local merchants association; and I have used my small business to fill the void of neighborhood gathering places. At Common Grounds groups are offered free meeting space; we serve as a Safe Haven; and provide an outlet for cultural exchange.

My history of service illustrates my love of community; an ability to create solutions and maximize resources; and reinvestment in our community. The 36th District needs a change in leadership and this is our opportunity to usher in the change - changeWRIGHTnow!
