1. What is the most important issue in Council District 36 you would address if elected?

In the 36th Council District addressing the housing crisis would be my prime focus. Inclusive, progressive planning is the cornerstone of community survival. Community development must meet the needs of all in our district. Public and private development must not operate exclusive of one another. Policy in the 30+ city agencies must facilitate survival for all, not just the politically savvy or the financially powerful. The stability of homeowners, renters, disabled, single dwellers, families, seniors and our small businesses make our community viable.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Schools, jobs and public safety make or break our community. The role of parents/guardians as partners in education would be a funding and oversight priority. Trade and skilled labor initiatives in existing and growing markets, supported through commercial/community development are key to turning the jobless tide. Victims, crime and re-entry would be targeted in my community. My efforts would bring improved crime investigation for the victim, targeted intervention for at-risk and re-entry initiatives for the formerly incarcerated population.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

As a career civil servant, 4th generation Bedford Stuyvesant-North Crown Heights resident and working mother, I bring nearly 20 years of personal and professional experience with the operating forces of this city. The knowledge and the relationships I have cultivated, make me responsive and confident to bring effective, accountable leadership within and beyond the 36th CD.
