Hi, I'm Donovan Richards, your candidate for Queens Borough President. First, I hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy.

I know right now it's tough to think about politics, but we have an important election coming up on June 23rd that will decide the future of our borough.

We're going to have an immense amount of work to do to ensure that we recover from the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our way of life. We need to create new jobs for those out of work, ensure the availability of affordable housing, and provide quality affordable healthcare to all those who need it.

When I was first elected to the City Council, my district was devastated by Superstorm Sandy. I worked hard everyday to rebuild our infrastructure, create thousands of units of affordable housing, and ensure sustainability for the future.

We overcame the tragedy of Sandy, and I have no doubt that as a borough, and as a city, we will do so once again in response to this virus.

The state has taken steps to ensure everyone's safety on Election Day, and I encourage all to vote by absentee ballot. Simply fill out the absentee ballot application and mail in your ballot when you get it.

Candidate Statement

I’m proud to have called Queens home my entire life, and since 2013 served in the City Council representing Southeast Queens where I live with my wife and four year old son.

Seventeen years ago I committed my life to public service after the tragic killing of a childhood friend and since then I've worked hard to build a stronger community.

In the City Council, I've fought to create thousands of new units of real affordable housing, jobs and secured $2.2 billion to strengthen our infrastructure. As Chair of the Public Safety Committee, I’ve fought for fairness and equity while also securing $94 million to build the 116th Precinct.

I'm running to be your Borough President because our neighborhoods deserve an advocate that shares our values. It's time for Queens to lead our city into the future without leaving anyone behind.

Together, we can build a Queens that works for everyone.
