1. What is the most important issue in Council District 33 you would address if elected?

Overdevelopment. We need downzoning along the waterfront in Williamsburg and Greenpoint & Fourth Ave. Community-based planning must be the basis of any new development to insure the scale and architecture are contextual with the neighborhoods, and will consider school space, sewage capacity and mass transit. New housing must include genuinely affordable units built with union labor.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Improving our Public Schools Having ample classes & after-school programs in the arts and music. Opening gyms & playgrounds on a daily basis so kids get enough exercise.

Protecting our Water Supply Protecting NY's watersheds from development and gas drilling.

Increasing Funding for Mass Transit Finding a long term solution to the MTA's chronic financial problems, and making the system attractive to drivers.

Creating Jobs and Improving the Economy Using the city's 5 pension funds to finance mass transit projects and replace century-old water mains.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am an Accountant and a 36 year Environmentalist. Brooklyn needs a fighter not a 'Yes' person. I am not beholden to anyone, and I stand up to people in power when necessary (Eliot Spitzer twice). I have a clear vision for a greener NYC.
