1. What is the most important issue in Council District 19 you would address if elected?

Overdevelopment is our most important issue. Unscrupulous developers are destroying the character & integrity of our low density neighborhoods. As CB Chair & active longtime civic leader, I was one of the leading advocates & proponents of the massive rezoning effort that saved much of our community. If elected, I will finish what I started & ensure that all our communities are downzoned & that effective legislation is passed to address the proliferation of Community Facilities.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

It is a fact that our local police precincts are understaffed. We must ensure that they are not cut any further. If elected, I would rely on my former prosecutor criminal justice experience to strongly advocate for increases in our local police staffing, re-instatement of the beat cop & a return to community policing. Furthermore, our district schools have always been among the best. Mayor control has starved our local schools of sufficient funds to effectively teach, nurture & enrich our children. If elected, I would advocate for a greater percentage of educational dollars & push for efforts to reduce our severe overcrowding.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

For well over 20 years I have been an active outspoken CB Chair, civic leader & advocate in NE Queens. There has not been an issue or problem that I have not been part of the solution or dialogue on. As CB Chair, I presided over major capital projects, addressed numerous community concerns & initiated innovative solutions to many of our problems. I am recognized as a tireless fighter with extensive hands-on experiences and accomplishments. While my opponents talk of what they would like to do, I can point to numerous concrete positive things that I have done already. My experiences, accomplishments, vast knowledge of government & proven positive track record, make me the Best Choice.
