1. What is the most important issue in Council District 03 you would address if elected?

Restoring a hospital for the West Side to replace St. Vincent's.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Affordable housing, job creation, more and better schools. I'll fight library, post office and school closures, and work to protect our neighborhoods.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I have a proven record of accomplishment for our neighborhoods. I've worked to empower people in Chelsea, West Village, and Hell's Kitchen for two decades. As a Civil Rights Attorney, I fought the closure of St. Vincent's Hospital, represented West Side tenants against predatory landlords, won same-sex couples the right to share a last name, settled a major sex discrimination case at FDNY and sued to stop the SPECTRA gas pipeline. As an Educator, I founded a NYC language and culture school and trained fellow educators to teach in NYC Public Schools. As a West Side Community Activist, I organized hundreds of volunteers to reach thousands of West Side seniors during Hurricane Sandy, built bridges between LGBTQ communities, communities of color, and others on issues like Stop and Frisk reform and fought NYU's massive development plan. I'm endorsed by NOW-NYC, Emily's List, Ansonia Ind Democrats, Chelsea-Midtown Democrats, McManus Democrats, DC 37, TWU 100, CWA 1180, and many more. I've proven I can stand up to powerful special interests on healthcare, affordable housing, parks and schools. I'll continue to be your advocate in City Hall.
