1. What is the most important issue in Council District 41 you would address if elected?

Education is the most important issue to be addressed in the district. Under Mayoral control over 50% of our youth fail to graduate high school These youth impact the statistics that reveal high unemployment, crime and poverty rates. I would establish a local community school board comprised of parents, community leaders, and teachers that would meet monthly to discuss and plan how to create and nurture successful students would work to ensure that Black History is taught in all of our schools as mandated by state law. This would greatly improve the character and the self esteem of our young people. It will enhance an intergenerational relationship between seniors and young people, thus reducing the environment of violence that permeates schools and the community.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I would address the issue of street crime and public safety by enrolling the youth population in ongoing educational, cultural and recreational activities. Green Jobs as outlined in President Obama's stimulus package is a viable way to create living wage jobs and entrepreneur opportunities. Improved services are needed for our increased senior population. I will work with HPD and developers to create 60-100% affordable housing.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

Passion, desire and creativity fuel my vision to lead this district. I have been exposed to some of the brightest minds in this country and I have the courage and intellect to do what is right. I am committed to engage educate, employ and empower the residents of this community. Together we have the power.
