1. What is the most important issue in Council District 29 you would address if elected?

Improving the quality of education remains the most important issue in the 29th Council District. We have to ensure that parents and teachers are in a position to help our children achieve the best results. I believe our children are our future and we must provide them with the tools they need to succeed. For the past 2 years, child care slots, after school programs and library services have faced the serious threat of budget cuts. I, together with my colleagues, have fought tirelessly for the restoration of these programs.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

For more than 20 years I have been a leading voice for full service senior centers, food delivery services, and programs that assist senior citizens in accessing entitlements and benefits. Our seniors are an integral part of our community and must always be one of my highest priorities. Public Safety and a good quality of life are the symbols of vibrant communities where people want to live and work. Knowing how important this is I have enhanced DOE Fund services in Forest Hills and expanded these valuable services to include Rego Park and Kew Gardens neighborhoods. I have also partnered with NY City Solve to remove graffiti from store fronts, buildings and infrastructure in our community.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I have a long and successful record of fighting for my community and constituents. During my years of service I have secured millions of dollars for capital projects to improve our schools, roads and parks. As the Chair of the Economic Development Committee my goal has been to insure that middle class families and small businesses can continue to play a major role in our city's future. I have a deep understanding and keen ability to provide what the 29th District needs.
