1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?

New York City is the sum of its neighborhoods. The working people and small business owners who invest their lives and dreams in the city should be rewarded, protected and valued by policy makers. New development must serve the community and create jobs and lasting prosperity within our neighborhoods. Every New Yorker has the right to earn an honest, independent living.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

We believe that safety, health, and access to affordable housing are the keys to a successful future. We will end stop and frisk policies and police harassment of communities of color, we will address the housing needs of citizens and institute commercial lease protection for small business owners, we will return control of the school system to the districts with enhanced accountability in place and we will limit the privatization of public resources and the use of private contractors for public services. We will also embark on an ambitious Green New Deal in order to create sustainable jobs and a secure economic future.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I have spent the last ten years as a fearless champion of the people and spirit of New York City. Along with hundreds of community groups and organizers I have resisted gentrification and tried to stop the invasion of our neighborhoods by overly subsidized, out of scale development. I have worked tirelessly to protect the rights of citizens and I am a fierce and passionate believer in the freedoms and promise of New York City, and the remarkable people who inhabit it. My administration will be a connecting force, reaching out to all New Yorkers to create a city of opportunity that is just, sustainable and free.
