I believe my extensive background in both City Government and Community Service makes me the best candidate.

I will be a full-time councilman - leaving the duties of party leadership to others. My office will have extended evening hours.

Education issues will continue to be a primary focus of my attention. I will continue to work toward the building of new schools and improving and maintaining our existing school facilities — I am credited with the building of 2 new schools, a major school addition, and the moving of the district office from a school to an office space. It is my belief that children should be able to walk to their neighborhood school.

I would also continue to strive to provide individual attention to students in need — as I have established policy for students reading below grade level in CSB24. I will continue to support pre-K programs as a way to provide an early start in education.

Quality of life for senior citizens will remain a major focus of my work. As Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee of CB5, I have been involved in various studies related to health care for seniors.

The Council plays a major role in the City’s budget process. I will use my experience of 33 years in City service to focus on the service needs of our community while protecting the taxpayers.

This district has particular police problems due to its unique geography (cemeteries, parks, rail lines). I will demand police resources that will properly accommodate all of the neighborhoods in our district. I will support a police-friendly City Council.
