1. What is the most important issue in Council District 19 you would address if elected?

Preserving Our Neighborhoods I will fight to preserve the character of our community. Residential neighborhoods must stay residential! We must enforce zoning laws, and when necessary, change them to accomplish this goal. We need pro-active approaches to protect the rich history and character of our neighborhoods.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Education We must equip our youth with the skills necessary to excel in the global marketplace. Bringing the best teachers to smaller classrooms is just the start of how to improve our education system. Giving parents a strong voice in the process is a must.

Environment Investing in the "greening" of our city today will pay for itself, many times over, in the years to come. Retrofitting all city-owned property with energy-efficient equipment cannot wait any longer. Improving air quality, providing more open green space for our residents, and reducing our carbon footprint are a must!

Small Businesses In this economy small businesses serve as the foundation of our city's economic engine. Recognizing the key role that they play in the recovery process, we must promote policies on the local level that support the overall economic recovery plan being implemented nation-wide.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I believe my time serving in Gary Ackerman's office has allowed me to learn from the very best. As an aide to the Congressman, I've heard the concerns of local residents and worked on making their lives better. I know how to build coalitions to address the concerns of my neighbors and will continue to do so as your Councilmember.
