Candidate Statement
I am seeking re-election to the NYS Senate to ensure that working families, immigrants, school kids, seniors and all of my constituents continue to have a strong, experienced, tireless advocate for the 13th District. As a public servant, I have dedicated my life to improving the District by helping to create better schools, safer streets and creating (as well as protecting) good-paying union jobs. The 13th Senate District is home to the nation’s most diverse immigrant population, many of whom are currently in the crosshairs of dangerous, anti-immigrant and anti-American policies coming from Washington. I have and will continue to fight for the NYS DREAM Act as well as a codified Sanctuary State designation. With the help of my Democratic colleagues and community leaders, I will continue to be a strong advocate for affordable housing, stronger rent protections and much-needed capital funding to fix our subways.
