Candidate Statement

Carmen grew up in the district she represents and resides in Inwood with her family. She knows well the issues her community faces and will continue to fight alongside her neighbors for what they deserve, using government as a tool for creating progressive change that’s not only felt locally but impacts communities across the state.

Carmen will continue to champion tenants and workers’ rights in Albany, bringing voices from her district to the table. She has been a leader in securing immigrant rights, protecting tenants with 2019’s historic rent reform laws, and championing criminal justice reform.
