Candidate Statement

My name is Jasmine Robinson and I am running for New York State Senate of District 23. My motivation to run was a vigil I attended for Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner. At this vigil, I witnessed many people who felt angry and lost. Some said politics are a pile of tricks and that elected officials only come around during election time. I entered this race to inspire hope for all communities especially our most vulnerable. More importantly, I wanted women of color to enter the political arena.

As a community activist, I can bring a different perspective. I understand the struggles and plight of the working class community. It is long overdue that District 23 has a State Senator who will show up for all of you. Mark Twain said it is best: “politicians and diapers must be changed often and for the same reason.”
