Candidate Statement
I spent 10 years in nonprofits working on social justice causes. I've worked in government. It is not just my professional resume that prepares me for the job, it is the lived experiences that help inform those policies. My father was an immigrant from the Philippines and my grandparents were from Puerto Rico. I was raised by my mom and Abuela in a one-bedroom apartment in Elmhurst. They taught me the values of sacrifice, selflessness, and service. It’s because of them that I believe that everyone deserves to live their lives as free from suffering as possible, and that we have an obligation to help each other during this brief existence. I want to work with my neighbors in NY-6 to build a just and sustainable future for all of us.
