1. What is the most important issue in Council District 8 you would address if elected?

No matter what your economic or social status every child deserves a good education. How do you tell a child he is getting a good education when their lunch period begins at 9:30 in the morning? That there is no nurse to administer the asthma medication they need in a district that has the highest asthma rate in the nation! When it comes to educating our children I will fight for smaller class sizes, more quality teachers, safer schools, stronger after school programs and help to supply them with the basic tools they need to achieve. A supporter of “The Campaign for Fiscal Equity”, my message is simple, to every child in school, to every parent and to every teacher: "That our children can realize their hopes and dreams through a good public education"!

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I can still remember images that are impossible to forget, smoke pouring from Ground Zero, a city that came together amidst a war waged upon our city. I know cause I was there, that day September 11, 2001. My community still feels the shock from that terrible day. Un-employment 12 1/2% in a district that’s going through a renaissance of construction and re-construction, yet our residents aren’t getting those jobs. Housing that will keep our middle-income families from being forced out of the city. Affordable housing for seniors that built this city. Housing for our firefighters, police officers, nurses and teachers who can’t afford to live where they work, and more affordable housing where New Yorkers can raise their families.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

As the first rank and file member of the NYC Fire Dept. elected to public office. I have a long and accomplished, proud and highly decorated history of public service that enabled me to established positive relationships with my colleagues, elected officials and the community at large. Recipient of the following awards: The Thomas Jefferson, Presidential, Univision Humanitarian, Bell Telephone, NY Yankees, Telly, Parents Choice, Crest National Smile, Open Doors...to name a few! Qualified, dedicated, responsive, and the right choice!
