1. What is the most important issue in Council District 24 you would address if elected?

As your Councilman I will continue the comprehensive agenda I have created to improve our quality of life. Over the last four years, I have personally allocated millions of dollars to make our streets cleaner, rebuild our parks and playgrounds, upgrade our libraries and expand vital government services. I am able to respond to the particular quality of life concerns of each neighborhood because of the close working relationship I have with every community organization and civic and religious leader in this district.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

In addition to improving our quality of life, I am committed to continuing my unprecedented investment in our schools, making additional gains in public safety and expanding seniors services.

Over the past four years, I funded new computer labs, science labs and other new learning technology in all of our local public schools, and I will continue this level of investment as my top budget priority.

As a leading member of the Public Safety Committee, I successfully fought for more police officers for our local precincts and, although crime is at historic lows, I pledge to use my seniority at the Council to put even more police on our streets and drive crime even lower.

Every year, I have increased funding for our local seniors programs. This year, I have secured a record $4 million in funding for over 25 local seniors programs. With your support, I’ll continue to expand seniors services in our community.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

My accomplishments as your Councilman over the last four years have improved our quality of life, enhanced educational opportunity, public safety and seniors services, and made City government work better for all our residents. My success was made possible by my 22 years of City government experience and the special partnership I have with all of our community organizations and civic and religious leaders. I ask for your support to build on what we have accomplished together.
