1. What is the most important issue in Council District 16 you would address if elected?

The 16th District has a multitude of issues that need to be addressed. However, the major issue that I would address when re-elected would be in the area of housing. The number one constituent issue of those who come to my District office is housing. There is a substantial need for affordable housing. By affordable, I am referring to housing where the tenant does not have to chose between rent and basic necessities. Until the issue of truly affordable housing is addressed, you will see a continued increase in homelessness and illegal multiple family apartments, and poor school attendance.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

The other important issues that go hand-in-hand with housing are economic development, health care and education. There needs to be a committed effort to train and employ Bronx residents in career enhancement jobs as opposed to menial jobs, that provide little income, making it difficult to support a family. The 16th District is one of the most unhealthy districts in the country with a high incidence of HIV/AIDS and obesity, and the resulting diseases. Finally, an educated population is necessary for the continued well-being of New York City. A large number of our families and children need a quality education in order to contribute to the economic stability of the City.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I am a product of the 16th Council District I have lived here all of my life. I am not someone who is looking from the outside in. I am on the inside and what affects the 16th District affects me.
