1. What is the most important issue in Council District 10 you would address if elected?

We must continue to focus on the new education reform plan in our public schools to guarantee the best education for our children and continue to fight for affordable housing and continuing to introduce legislation such as the one for disparities that exist in the Rent Guideline Board when determining rent increases.

 

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I will continue to work tirelessly: to save programs at Senior Centers, bring jobs back to our community, secure funding and programs that benefit our community in areas such as Affordable Quality Childcare, Education, Working for Seniors, Working to address Domestic Violence, Health & Environment issues, Strengthen Rent Regulations, Health & Environment, Job Development & Training Programs, Empowering Small Businesses, & Working with our Youth and the Arts.

I have kept my promise to stand against proposals to reduce childcare services, obtained funding for expansion of early head start programs, & fought domestic violence by funding programs that provides counseling & job training to victims. I will continue to introduce legislation such as the Displaced Workers, Minimum Wage and Predatory Bill which protect the rights of working men and women in our communities.

 

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

As a lifelong resident of your community and your City Council Member, I have continued to keep my commitment to save services in the best interest of our community. As a leader and an advocate I will continue the fight for affordable housing, quality education, to build new schools and reduce class size and other issues impacting our community. I stand by my legislative record which addresses the community’s needs. I will continue to represent Washington Heights, Inwood and Marble Hill community as a advocate and legislator and supporting programs that will remedy our community’s needs efficiently and fairly.
