Follow the Money

The CFB provides information to the public about local candidates’ campaign financing that cannot be found anywhere else. New Yorkers and NYC media outlets rely
upon the CFB’s searchable database, which is updated nearly instantaneously after each disclosure deadline, for accurate and up-to-date information on who is contributing to candidates for city office and how their campaigns are spending the money.

For candidates who join the Campaign Finance Program and accept public matching funds, the CFB collects detailed information on the amount of public funds each campaign receives and how it is spent.

To get an idea of the data the CFB collects, check out the Campaign Finance Summaries report, which displays candidates’ information by election year. If you are interested in viewing more specific information, the searchable database displays data based on the search parameters you choose, e.g.,  contributions received between specific dates or above
a certain amount, or spending on a particular category such
