Voter Assistance & Education
The CFB promotes voter registration, voting, and civic engagement through community outreach and partnerships with public and private organizations. Under the banner NYC Votes! and with the assistance of the Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC), the CFB coordinates voter events, distributes voter education materials, and helps NYC residents register to vote. Go to the new Voter Assistance & Resources section for information on registering, voting, getting more involved in NYC elections, and more. Since 1989, the CFB has produced the official NYC Voter Guide before each local election. Copies of the Guide are mailed to registered voters, and an interactive online edition is published on this website. In 2005, voters gained the video Voter Guide, which is produced and broadcast on television and streamed online before each citywide election. In 1997, the CFB launched the Debate Program, offering voters a series of debates between candidates running for mayor, public advocate, and comptroller before each citywide election. Debates are broadcast on television and streamed online by the CFB’s media partners. Want to learn more about campaign financing in NYC elections? Using the navigation to the left, click on Public Disclosure to view reports on candidates running for local office, and on Campaign Finance Law to find out more about the laws the CFB enforces.
