Keeping the Public Informed

One of the Campaign Finance Board’s most important tasks is to provide information to the public; in particular, to provide information to NYC voters to help them make informed decisions on election day. The CFB helps educate voters by:

• Producing the official New York City Voter Guide, which includes profiles of the candidates running for local office, general voting information and instructions, and descriptions of any local ballot proposals. The Voter Guide is distributed it to all registered voters in New York City.
• Administering the city’s Debate Program, which requires candidates running for mayor, public advocate, and comptroller to take part in a series of debates if they join the Campaign Finance Program.
• Providing information about the financing of city campaigns to the public and the media.
