Candidate Statement

It makes me sick to watch the Republicans in Washington and Albany repeatedly attacking our people. Yet instead of uniting with us to resist this assault, our State Senator Marisol Alcantara turned on us by joining the Independent Democratic Conference, a group of turncoat Democrats that’s empowered the Republican minority to control the State Senate and block progressive legislation.

I am running to build a real Democratic State Senate majority that will finally fully fund our public schools, reform our loophole ridden rent laws, pass the DREAM Act, Liberty Act and badly needed ethics reforms, election reforms and real criminal justice reforms and make Andrea Stewart-Cousins the first woman Senate Majority Leader.

I’m proud to be supported by Jerry Nadler, David Dinkins, Scott Stringer, Corey Johnson, Zenaida Mendez, Vote Pro Choice and so many more. I ask for your support.

I’m ready to fight back and end Republican control of the State Senate. And with your help I will.
