Candidate Statement

I am a father, a grandfather, and a proud son of Puerto Rican grocery store owners. I was born in Williamsburg, raised my family in Bushwick and spent much of my adult life in public service. I am proud of the renaissance North Brooklyn is experiencing and of my record in fighting for working class families.

I have been fortunate to secure funding for schools and affordable housing. I have fought to protect the rights of voters, immigrants and workers. I have fought for transit funding and social justice. And yet, more must be done.

We all struggle at times. I see it with friends, family and neighbors - young and old. My calling has always been to help those in need, as a public servant or as a friend. I will continue to do that to the best of my abilities for those I represent in Brooklyn.
