Candidate Statement

Times of crisis demand government leadership. We live in the most unequal district nationally. As Advisor to the Governor, I oversaw the housing portfolio and led job creation for the state, negotiating funding for NYCHA after the federal government walked away. I helped pass $15 minimum wage, paid family leave, and developed solutions for small businesses. Our district is made up of miles of coastline. We must end our dependence on fossil fuels because those who have the least stand to lose the most, which I saw when I led relief efforts in Puerto Rico on behalf of New York after Hurricane Maria. Lastly, we have a mental health crisis that should be treated on par with physical health. New York needs a future that includes everyone.
