Candidate Training Calendar
The New York City Campaign Finance Board (“CFB”) is hosting C-SMART and compliance training seminars for campaigns in the 2009 election cycle. Beginning January 1, 2008, participating candidates, their treasurers, and any campaign managers or person(s) with significant managerial duties are required to attend compliance and C-SMART trainings. We offer full compliance trainings satisfying both requirements in a single extended daytime class, or separate evening trainings satisfying each requirement individually. We also offer an advanced C-SMART training for campaigns that have already attended a regular 2009 C-SMART training.
To register for a scheduled training seminar, please contact the Candidate Services Unit at (212) 306-7100 or email us at CSUmail@nyccfb.info. The Candidate Services Unit is also available for individual trainings during business hours.
Because of space considerations, campaigns are limited to two representatives per training. If you need to cancel your scheduled training, please call in advance so that other campaigns may attend.
If a campaign already attended a C-SMART and compliance training for the 2009 election cycle prior to January 1, 2008, it must still attend a supplemental training focusing on the new legislation and updated C-SMART. Please call the Candidate Services Unit to arrange a supplemental training.

Did you know that C-SMART contains powerful fundraising tools? While your campaign can record and report everything legally required without using these features, C-SMART’s fundraising suite can help your campaign conduct more efficient and targeted fundraising. Some of the newest tools include:
- a list management wizard to create targeted phone and mailing lists;
- expanded fields to include detailed information about contributions;
- event tracking to record the costs of and contributions resulting from an event;
- contact management to help manage contributor contacts;
- and the ability to track and record pledges.
If you would like to learn how to take advantage of these tools to aid in your fundraising efforts, we invite you to attend an advanced C-SMART training session conducted by the Candidate Services Unit. Please call the Candidate Services Unit to arrange an advanced C-SMART training.
