C-SMART Candidate Software

Campaigns use C-SMART (Candidate Software for Managing and Reporting Transactions), the CFB’s proprietary software, to electronically report their financial transaction information. C-SMART is provided to candidates at no cost. C-SMART:

• produces all required disclosure schedules that candidates file with the CFB and the NYC Board of Elections, and the electronic files necessary to file with the State Board of Elections
• enables a political committee to develop a database of contributors, vendors, and other entities that may be used by successor committees in future elections
• facilitates compliance with contribution limits and other legal requirements by aggregating multiple contributions received from the same individual or entity and producing reports that track contributions and expenditures

The CFB recently released C-SMART version 9, which offers new campaign management tools and functionality, including customizable letters and e-mails, import/export of data to QuickBooks or Microsoft Money, and fundraising tools similar to those found in commercial fundraising software.
